In reality, all hypnosis IS self hypnosis. No one can ‘control’ your mind anymore than you can ‘control’ anyone else’s mind. Hypnosis is just entering into a relaxed state, which allows the conscious mind to recede. It’s the state of mind that uses your imagination and your senses. Any activity that gets the senses engaged and gets you out of your thinking mind can be considered hypnosis.
Using your imagination is a wonderful and enjoyable hypnosis and diet activity. You could say that imagining your favorite foods is ‘hypnotizing’ you into wanting them. And you can definitely go into a ‘food trance’ - when you are binging or using food to sedate yourself. Many people will immediately resonate with the term “carb coma.” It’s an alternate mind state, and not always a comfortable one.
The subconscious mind can’t tell the difference between what is real, and what is imagined, and you can use this to your advantage. When you create an image in your mind, you start a process . . . and when your mind is in this relaxed state, it’s more receptive.
I remember going sailing for the first time - it was glorious to feel the warm sun and feel the breeze on my face in a beautiful peaceful environment. It felt like a trance state. As my senses took over, it was like a little vacation for my conscious mind. What a relief to rest my thinking brain! Even now, when I imagine the scene, I smile . . .
The more you use your imagination and your senses, the better you will feel. Listening to hypnosis and diet cds gives you a perfect way to build your imagining mind, and gives you a break from your conscious, obsessive thinking mind!
